Tourettes

Tourettes:

Tourette’s syndrome is an inherited neuropsychiatric disorder with onset in childhood, characterized by the presence of multiple physical (motor) tics and at least one vocal (phonic) tic; these tics characteristically wax and wane. Tourette's is defined as part of a spectrum of tic disorders, which includes transient and chronic tics....so when one male from Auckland City names himself after this Disorder you expect something of a chaos musical noise, not so much the case. Tourettes has been around awhile, at present he’s whoring himself out to any gig that will take him, not a bad idea it means you get to play to a lot of different audiences and get a ton of feedback. But at what cost? And maybe when people ask you to play a gig with them (which by the way they set up and plan and do all the ground work for) maybe some humble pie should be eaten before hand. Tourette's music makes me cringe to some degree. I like the beats, the beats are good, they may sound a slight p-moneyish, and some start like the beginning of a hard hitting dnb track, so you anticipate more and then sadly get let down. The words, are good, they have passion and conviction. Some speak to me. They don't go hand in hand, they don't blend, and it’s like that 16 year old who’s still learning how to mix her foundation probably. She looks good until you look closer and see where her skin begins and the makeup starts. I can't put my finger on the reason of what’s going wrong. Is he slightly off beat, is it a speech impediment holding him back? Or just no flow? Please remember that if you are going to pull off the Eminem thing (does he realize he’s doing this, one thinks not.) Stop being a soft cock about it.......In a small place like New Zealand once we gain some degree of reaction and some amount of fame, we forget, we forget about how hard the struggle was to get there, or how many coffees we had to make/how many dishes we had to wash whilst waiting for the crowd to sit the fuck up and listen. We forget and become arrogant and think we own the streets. Tourettes is a good poet, as stated above, his words hold conviction (for me at least). "I don't write poetry for poets" holds feeling that I understand, and can sympathize with. He knows how to hold an audience captive, he’s good with words. Granted. My sister’s favorite saying at the moment is, "you’re not all that and a bag of potato chips" ....go ask yourself. Maybe I would like your music more if you didn’t think you were awesome, yes you’re ok and you’re clearly doing something right look at your following, Just don't be a cunt about it.......
